Dog Leg Preacher soundman attacked by deranged woman

Dog Leg Preacher's show at Jimmy Jacks Classic rock Cafe was brought to an abrupt end Friday night September 12th, when their sound engineer Courtley Everett was attacked by a deranged woman. The exact cause for this unprovoked attack is still not clear, however the woman was screaming about being reincarnated by Jesus, and being sent back here to vote for Barrak Obama?? This unexpected attack came while Dog Leg was finishing the last half hour of the Friday night show. Courtley called off the last of the performance when the crazed woman spilled her drink all over the Mixing console.(no need to get electrocuted ) . Fortunately no one was injured as the attack consisted mainly of finger waving, pointing, and profanity. After all was settled things got back to normal, and tonights show at Jimmy Jacks (Sat Sept 13th) will go on as scheduled. We hope that this will be a lesson, religion, politics, alchohol, and insanity are a bad combination. All crazy things aside the show Friday night was incredible, with a special guest appearance by the band MidStokke. Dog Leg Preacher rocked the house as usual with fans crowding the stage apron. Dog Leg Preacher to perform in Everett Washington

Dog Leg Preacher prepares to Rock Sound Harley Davidson

This coming Saturday September 6th Dog Leg Preacher will be tearing up the Sound Harley Davidson dealer in Smokey Point Washington. This special event is Sound Harleys second Anniversary celebration. Dog Leg Preacher will be joined by their favorite local rockers MidStokke. Sound and Staging will be provided by our good friend Keith from Loud Technology's (Mackie). The show is slated to kick off around 1:00 p.m. with free food starting at noon. There will be door prizes, giveaways, and up to 75% off on Harley merchandise. This is an all ages event, so Dog Leg will be looking forward to seeing many of our under 21 fans that we never get to see often enough. Dog Leg Preacher says thanks to all our fans

Dog Leg Preacher would like to say thanks to all of our freinds, fans, and everyone else who showed up to help us Rock Granite falls. The place was rocking, rumor has it that the toilets in the restrooms were even vibrating from the music. Special thanks to Mike, (the owner of the Spar Tree)and Brad (Monroe Welding) you two have helped this band in more ways than we can count. we would also like to thank Courtleys friend Robert who came out to help with the setup and tear down. These shows are always a lot of work. It was so nice to see so many of our friends here. We hope to see many of you again real soon.

Dog Leg Preacher set to Rock Granite Falls Washington

This coming Saturday August 30th. Dog Leg Preacher is set to bring their own style of high powered high energy rock to the Historic Spar Tree tavern in Downtown Granite falls Washington. This will be Dog Leg's first public performance in Washington State since their Sturgis roadtrip. Everyone is excited to be back home. We are looking forward to partying with some of our good friends in Granite. Dog Leg will also be performing at Sound Harley Davidson on Saturday sept 6th for their Second Anniversary party. The next Dog Leg Preacher show

The next show for Dog Leg Preacher will be Saturday August 30th at The Historic Spar Tree in Downtown Granite Falls Washington. This small mountain town is very close to mount Pilchuck, and there are alot of recreational facility's near by. (Hiking, camping, etc) There are alot of cool places up there on the mountain loop highway. A great place to enjoy the wanning days of summer 2008. Dog Leg Preacher will go on around 10:30, the show starts at 9:00 opening act is still TBA. This is gonna be a fun show.

The Return from Sturgis (one hell of a ride)

What a ride home. From searing heat to Montana thunderstorms to the rain of Western Washington we rode through it all. 2553 total miles 11 days in South Dakota, and the biggest party in U.S. Yes this was one hell of a ride. We would like to start out by saying thanks to: Sound Harley Davidson, The Legendary Buffalo Chip, and Loud Technologies. This trip would not have been possible without you great people. We also need to say thanks to all of our sponsors, The historic Spar Tree in Granite falls WA. The Carbonado Saloon in Carbonado WA. Monroe Welding in Lake Stevens WA. We will be Leaving for Sturgis on Tuesday morning July 29th. All preparations are made. We will be performing at the Buffalo Chip campground on August 4th 5th and 6th. This is gonna be a great time. We hope to have the movie edited and ready for production by the time we get back, but we shall see. I will be posting some photos from the road here during the trip. STURGIS the movie

Dog Leg Preacher is packing up and heading to Sturgis. They will be performing at the Legendary Buffalo Chip on August 4th 5th and 6th. Fellow performers for these nights include Kid rock, Pudddle of Mudd, Three Doors down, Finger Eleven, and Lynryd Skynryd. Dog leg preacher will be rolling film the entire trip. Hopefully we will have it edited and ready to publish by the time we get back. THIS IS GONNA BE A BLAST. There are already several parties interested in airing the film on TV so stay tuned for details.
Dog Leg Preacher is also currently looking for sponsors to help defray some of the cost associated with the trip (fuel is expensive, and so is feeding a film crew). Oh yeah, we are headed for Sturgis! The Black hills motorcycle rally is by far the oldest, biggest, and most respected motorcycle rally in the world. Dog Leg Preacher to do live Television show

This Friday night July 11th Dog Leg Preacher will be performing at Club Vortex in Mukeltio Washington. The performance will be Broadcast on Hot rocks TV show. The show is available in Washington on cable Channel 77. The show starts at 7:00 p.m. and is all ages. The cover charge will be ten Dollars at the door. Club Votex is located at 4314 Russel road unit 103 Mukeltio, WA. Also appearing on the bill will be two other great bands Enkyra and Witch Burn. I will have the more info about when and were to watch the internet simulcast,and the cable show put up early this coming week.

The Beginning of the BIG RIDE for DOG LEG PREACHER

Well, if you were wondering whether DLP has what it takes, this weekend PROVED beyond a shadow of a doubt that the combination of talent and drive in this band, facilitated by the amazing talent of the crew, is AMAZING.

Friday and Saturday night at Kerby's in Sumner was the first outing for the newly constructed sound system. Courtley, sound engineer extraordinaire, has put together a system that, even though it is still missing a few minor components, has finally brought to life the amazing music that this band is producing now. Perfect instrument separation…a booming but not overwhelming bass/kick sound, and an easily discernible, almost descant sound of the lead guitar that weaves smoothly but not overwhelmingly through the two-set night.

DLP thanks Dave Kerby for bringing them down to Sumner for the weekend. Although it was the hottest weekend (translation: SUMMER IS FINALLY HERE) of the year, Kerby's very functional a/c system kept everyone cool. This is a very nice place, by the way, and this owner is one of the better owners we have encountered. Great stage, lots of parking, and great service.

Sunday at the Royal Bear in Auburn proved to be the breakthrough show for DLP - and special thanks go to Craig Arrowwood and Dutch for booking this show.

What happened on Sunday is notable for several reasons. First, again, amazing sound…a vitally important part of any show. If you have the best product in the world, unless people can hear it and see it, it is of little value. Thanks again to genius Courtley for his never-ending energy and drive to bring the best out of any board …. anywhere, anytime!

The second major reason: Having just completed a month as the new incarnation of Dog Leg Preacher, the new players have apparently created the perfect fusion of bass (Solomon Kane) and lead (Marcelo Portaro), following the strong style of drummer Fosdick. Lead man Kurke was HOT (literally and figuratively) on his game on Sunday demonstrating a massively energetic style which is easily in the arena of Bonn Scott and Robert Plant. The energy level of this band is contagious. The sound is aggressive….the lyrical content and the musicianship have created a monster in a way, that now beyond a doubt has placed Dog Leg Preacher in league with the BIG BOYS.

On stage at the Royal Bear on Sunday, and about halfway through the first set, Portaro brought on his amazing version of Little Wing (SRV/JH), as usual, but this time he did it with FIVE STRINGS, having lost the E string on his '70s's Strat early on in the song. The true professional that he is, had there not been a guitar change after this tune (and with a quick E string installation done by a famous mystery guest), not a soul would have noticed the missing string. There was NEVER any compromise on Portaro's part. A professional down to souls of his Peruvian feet at the tender age of 21, Portaro displayed what will soon be known in this state, in this country, and inevitably worldwide, a talent beyond the grasp of many very famous players.

Kane, wielding the newest release of the Jaguar bass, provided an amazingly steady beat, riding totally in the pocket. Smooth runs appeared throughout when they were least expected, providing perfect color in the bottom end. A bass should not stand out, so they say - Kane has the ability to so well define the chord structure that provides the perfect foundation for Portaro's leads.

Portaro's contribution to Dog Leg Preacher, combined with the amazing bass playing talent of Solomon Kane who is FAR TOO HUMBLE about his own abilities, has brought to life what was originally a virtual 'band' with only Fosdick and Kurke, and imminently will move them to the kind of recognition that this type of skill and talent SO cries out for.

SERIOUSLY, FOLKS… If you haven't heard Dog Leg Preacher yet, get out there and see them … soon you'll be paying the big bucks to see them on the professional stages. And why not be some of the few who can say, "I knew them when…"

Dog Leg Preacher to Rock Sumner Washington

Tonight June 27th and tomorrow June 28th Dog Leg Preacher will be burning it up at Kerby's in sumner (410 plaza 16202 64th st SE) Special guest Leslie will be opening the show. Leslie is the bass player for Marky Ramone. We are excited to have leslie out for these two shows. Dog Leg Preacher will also be doing a special sunday afternoon show at the Royal Bear in Algona June 29th. This show will be opened by former members of Redneck Girlfriend, and will include another guest appearance by Leslie. There will also be a couple of celebrity guest appearances this weekend.

Dog Leg Preacher is proud to announce the signing of Dane Kane to take over the bass guitar responsibilities. Dan hails from Seattle Washington. A seasoned pro Dan has formerly worked with Triathlon, Thor, and Tumbling Dice. Now that Dan is holding down the bottom end, it leaves Captain Joe Kurke free to come out and front the band. This great move coupled with the recent addition of stellar guitarist Marcelo Portaro, has raised Dog Leg Preacher to an even higher level of excellence. Look for many great things to come from this group of players. Dog Leg Preacher agrees to do T.V. show in July

Dog Leg Preacher sets J.R. Phinnickeys on Fire

Last Thursday night Dog Leg Preacher took to the stage for the first with their newly signed guitarist Marcelo Portaro. This show was incredible. Having only one week to learn the material Marcelo pulled off all of the tunes without a hitch. Joe Kurkes vocals and bass playing were par excel lance, and The groove laid down by Jon Fosdick was as solid as the Great Pyramid at Giza. Marcelo's red hot lead guitar ignited the conflagration during his rendition of little wing. A performance that mesmerized the crowd, and literally brought tears to the eyes of all those who remember Jimi and Stevie. Dog Leg Preacher will be doing this all over again at J.R. Phinnickeys next thursday May 29th, as well as in Algona on Sat May 31st at the Royal Bear.

Trial by fire for our Peruvian guitar hero

Dog Leg Preacher signs Peruvian guitar legend Marcelo Portaro

Dog Leg Preacher is proud to announce the signing of Marcelo Portaro. Marcelo is a world class lead guitar player. At 21 years of age Marcelo hails from Lima, Peru. Marcelo studied music at the university in Barcelona, Spain. Marcelo brings a new edge to Dog Leg Preacher, with intricate and incredble guitar playing. Reminiscent of past greats like Hendix, Vai, and Satriani, Marcelo moves Dog Legs sound onto a new playing field. DLP plans to have some new tracks from Marcelo up on their website within the next few months.

Featuring the master mind of John Fosdick, Dog Leg Preacher will be performing Saturday, April 26, at the Spar Tree in Granite Falls.
A classic rock cover band, DLP offers an explosive new style of old-school rock and roll. They performed at Lake Steven’s Aquafest in 2006.
Fosdick wrote all the material on the self-titled first album, collaborating with Captain Joe Kurke who created vocals reminiscent of bands like AC/DC and Motley Crue. Fosdick provides the drum cadence for Kurke’s bass playing.
These two have played together for many years and are able to combine their individual artistic abilities well.
Kurke achieves the exact vocal sound Fosdick was searching for when Dog Leg Preacher was in its earliest stages.
As a virtual band on line, these two guys received airplay world-wide including Australia, Italy, France, Netherlands and on the East Coast of the United States.
“Reviewers chewed it up and spit out raves about the style and production of this musical work.”
The newest addition to DLP is Chris Moser, a long-time acquaintance of Fosdick, an ex-Army Ranger and a former resident of Arlington who now lives in Kent.
An accomplished writer himself, Moser assumed the role of rhythm guitar with shared lead and vocals. He assimilated easily and quickly into the group, drawing on years of guitar playing to pick up and recreate DLP’s sound.
He is looking forward to having an audience at the Spar Tree.

Benefit Poker run for Dragoni

Well the poker run for Dutch Phillips went very well. We all helped to raise copious quantities of cash to help Dutch with his medical bills and general survival during his time of hardship. Dutch is a great friend and supporter of Dog Leg Preacher, as well as Abate of Washington, Biker freindly bar .com and Quick throttle magazine. We would like to thank him personally for all of the help he has provided us with in the past. We wish him a speedy recovery. We are always looking forward to working with Dutch. Dog Leg Preacher would also like to personally thank, Dr Dave from Arrowood Productions, Kenny from the Cedarwood, Terry from Whiskey Creek, and the guys from the band La Grange for helping us pull this off. For those of you who only know Dr Dave as a promoter let us tell you, this guy can sing and play guitar as well. This was a real good time for all of us who performed there. What a show. Nice to see all the good people there....as well as to hear Hammerdog. Not to many bands out there playing this kind of old school hard rock anymore. Benefit at the Royal Bear

Well the gig Saturday night went very well with lots of great people in attendance. It was a fun time for all. The opening act " One Way Out" was excellent. For those of you who are Allman Brothers fans These guys are highly recommended. The Benefit on Sunday for Barbara AKA Wild Bills wife was a lot of fun as well. It is wonderful to see people coming together like this to help out friends in need. All of the riders from the Poker run Donated their winnings to the fund raiser ass well. A big thanks to Craig Arrowood, Dragoni, DrDave, and The Royal Bear for putting this together. The Next Benefit will be on May 4th at the Royal Bear. This benefit will be for Dutch Phillips, who was seriously injured in an automobile accident about a month ago. Dutch was rear ended by a tractor trailer while sitting at a red light. Needless to say his van was totaled, and he sustained multiple injuries which will most likely result in several surgeries. As an additional note, Dog Leg Preacher will be playing this Saturday night April 4th at the Cedarwood dome in Milton WA. ROCK dog leg preacher

To give you some idea of just how hardcore Dog Leg Preacher is, they have a song about Ted Bundy, “Sable,” on their MySpace page, complete with a picture of the notorious serial killer. Despite the eeriness, it’s a catchy little number that you can sing-along with while shaking your fist in the mosh pit. Obviously influenced by such extreme metal bands as Dio and Danzig, the band features soaring guitar licks, tight and steady beats, and fever-pitched vocals.

Formed in 2001 by drummer Jon Fosdick and vocalist/bassist Joe Kurke, Dog Leg took metal, shook it feverishly and spewed out a kind of music that combines straight-up rock with complex melodies. Fosdick pens the aggressive lyrics that “Captain” Kurke screams at the top of his lungs, while guitarist Chris Moser provides the monstrous licks and multifaceted solos. The band’s two discs, 2001’s #1 and 2006’s Abscess, have both found global success thanks to play on the Internet.

Dog Leg Preacher will be hosting a post-Thanksgiving concert and celebration Nov. 23 and 24 at the Cedarwood Dome, after which the band will be taking time off to complete their third CD and prepare another spectacular stage show for 2008. — TE
